Contemporary Music does not bite!

10 concert

BAROQUE vs CONTEMPORARY / The works of J.S. Bach, C. Ph.E. Bach and M. Marais are the central spot of the concert. Sonata for solo flute, BWV 1013, by Johann Sebastian Bach has been written since 1723 and is as demanding as the Flute part of the Fifth Brandenburg concert. In the same tone, Bach's son, Carl Philipp Emanuel, composed his sonata. Built in 1747, but published in 1763, it marks the emotional style of a new era, compared to ca. 30 years of his father's older sonata. The French Folies d'Espagne by Marin Marais (1656-1728) reminded a lot of the work of Corelli, but with recent research it seems likely that Marais first used the theme originally composed by Lully.

The variety of Baroque music language contrasts with the music of our time.

The concert will present composer works from the United States, France, Greece and the United Kingdom: Michael Travlos, Louis Sauter, Aaron Alter, Rena Nicolaou, Peter Walton, Dimitris Karnasopoulos.
